Sex Advice: Wearing condom on uncircumcised penis

Que. A friend of mine is dating an uncircumcised man who says he can't wear a condom because he is not circumcised. Is this true?

Ans. The technique for putting on condoms does differ for circumcised men. In order to avoid the condom "creeping up," it is important to follow these guidelines: The foreskin needs to be retracted before the condom is unrolled onto the penis. When the condom is unrolled about one third the way down the shaft, one hand should be used to pull the foreskin with the unrolled part of the condom upward while the other hand continues to unroll the condom to the base of the penis. Sounds complicated, but it's really not. Men do it all the time.

Sex Advice: Can masturbation cause loss of eye sight and mental illness

Que. I have heard that too much masturbation can cause a loss of eye sight and mental illness. Is there any truth to this?

Ans. The myths of masturbation have been dispelled and discounted since the early 1900s, though superstitions can endure for centuries. Blindness, insanity, epilepsy, laziness - these are some of the fears that have accompanied the thought of masturbation. Today, it is therapeutically recognized as a positive activity. A man or woman can relieve stress and tension, get to know themselves and what pleases them sexually and perform when it's convenient and private. It is the ultimate safe sex AND it feels good!

Sex Advice: About anal warts

Que. If you get anal warts can you get rid of them? Even if they are removed by a doctor, do you still have the virus?

Ans. Anal warts can be removed by a doctor or with treatments applied at home. Depending on which treatment is used, there is a 10 to 30 per cent chance of the warts coming back, although the virus will remain in your body forever. The virus is most likely to be transmitted to your sex partners when the warts are actually present, but sometimes they are too small to see with the naked eye (sub-clinical). Very little is known about passing them to sex partners.

Sex Advice: Placing penis upwards in underwear

Que. Is it safe to place your penis upwards inside your underwear? Lately I've been having trouble getting erections because of this.

Ans. There is no evidence of difficulty getting erections related to the position of the penis in underwear. There are a variety of medical specialists who deal with erectile dysfunction (ED). ED can be caused by stress, drugs, problems with blood flow related to diabetes and arterial disease among others.

Sex Advice: Little red dots on head of penis

Que. After I have sex, I have little red dots on the head of my penis for a week? Is this normal?

Ans. They can be burst capillaries (tiny blood vessels) that release tiny amounts of blood under the skin when they break. They heal up almost immediately, but the blood stays visible under the skin until it's reabsorbed by the surrounding tissues. It can happen from extra-vigorous sucking, or from an extended time close to orgasm, while the head is tumescent (very large and shiny because of buildup of blood in the erectile tissue). Using an erection ring can also cause it because of the restrictive effect on the blood flow.

Sex Advice: Husband caught masturbating

Que. We are newly-weds, in our twenties. Late one night, I was horrified to discover my husband masturbating in the bathroom. Has he lost interest in me?

Ans. So long as he's not withholding sex from you, you have nothing to worry about. He's just a young guy who's overflowing with sexual energy. You too are young but inexperienced and perhaps by nature a little prudish. One of the great delights of marriage is that it is a safe and loving place to experience easy intimacy with another. Instead of making this unexpected encounter one of horror and humiliation, why not use it as a lesson that you need to be more open to your husband?

Sex Advice: Canine pleasure

Que. I have seen different pictures with girls letting dogs mount them. It has me curious. Are there any health risks?

Ans. We have all heard of this and seen some of the pictures. But we have to actually discourage this because it's a bit too strange and dirty. You could also catch a lot of infections from a dog. But if it is a woman's choice, it is for her to do it or not.
